Bill is a co-founder and Principal of the Legacy Settlements Group. He is an attorney, licensed to practice law in both Missouri and Kansas and is also a licensed life insurance agent. He has extensive experience settling all types of personal injury claims as a structured settlement expert, trial attorney and large loss claims specialist for a major reinsurer.
Bill began his legal career as a trial attorney with the Kansas City, Missouri law firm of Polsinelli, Shalton and Welte. During his tenure with the Polsinelli law firm, he handled all types of litigated claims, including personal injury losses.
After this experience he served as an Assistant Vice President and Claims Counsel for Employers Reinsurance Corporation, one of the world's largest reinsurers. In this capacity, he resolved the company's catastrophic casualty personal injury losses, often using structured settlements.
As a Principal in the Legacy Settlements Group, Bill currently provides full spectrum of "start to finish" service to structure personal injury settlements. This service includes developing an assessment of a claimant's financial needs, tailoring a settlement package to address those needs, assisting in the settlement negotiation and working with the parties to properly document the settlement and deliver the financial proceeds of the settlement.
Bill is a past President of the Kansas City Claims Association. He is also a member of the National Structured Settlements Trade Association. He is a frequent speaker on topics relating to insurance claims and structured settlements.
Bill graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law, where he served as an editor of the Law Review. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree Magna Cum Laude from the University of California, Berkeley.
